Conducts Briefing for 2026 KSA and UBINAN Surveys to Strengthening Food Data Accuracy
January 26, 2026 | BPS Activities
SIDRAP – In an effort to maintain the quality of agricultural statistics, particularly for food crop commodities, BPS-Statistics of Sidenreng Rappang Regency organized a Briefing for the Area Frame Sample (KSA) and Crop-Cutting (UBINAN) Surveys. The sessions were attended by all prospective field enumerators and conducted in two stages on January 22 and 26, 2026.
The KSA and UBINAN surveys are crucial instruments for objectively and scientifically estimating harvested areas and food crop productivity. Through the KSA method, which integrates satellite imagery technology with field validation, BPS aims to accurately capture crop growth phases. Meanwhile, the UBINAN survey functions to measure yield per unit area to obtain valid productivity figures.
During the briefing sessions, emphasis was placed on the importance of enumerator precision in identifying field coordinates and applying crop-cutting techniques according to standard operating procedures (SOP). This is vital considering that Sidenreng Rappang Regency is one of the primary food reservoirs in South Sulawesi Province, making its food production data a key reference for national food security policies.
This activity was part of BPS Sidrap’s intensive agenda during the final week of January. With this comprehensive technical preparation, enumerators are expected to be fully prepared for field deployment to provide high-quality, high-integrity, and reliable agricultural data.
